A little History: Back in February of 2005, creators Joe Terramagra & Matt Christopherson noticed that there weren’t any dance events for bears. With there being 5 or 6 bear type organizations in the greater LA & OC area they decided to go out on a limb and try something new. After much negotiation with night clubs, they opened at Fire Island 2 in the Belmont Shores area of Long Beach, CA. After a very successful 7 months,  Fire Island 2 or FI2 was sold.  The new owners were reluctant to have a “GAY” night on a Saturday.  The last event at FI2 was in September of 2005. After taking a month off to regroup, the owners of Choices (formerly Hamburger Mary’s) asked Joe and Matt to bring Bear Kamp to their venue. Jumping on the chance to get Bear Kamp up and going again, the first event at Choices opened in December of 2005.  With a strong following of supporters or “KAMPERS”, as they call them, it was obvious that Bear Kamp was going to be a continued success.

In August of 2006, the owners of Choices sold the club to a Long Beach couple. The new owners have updated and remolded the venue toward a “HIGH END” look that is now Mick & Mack’s.  The owners/ promoters of Bear Kamp, pride themselves on being the busiest, fresh faced, high energy, and most successful club night at Mick & Mack’s.

Who knows what’s in store for Bear Kamp’s future? Only the promoters know?
